O of A NEWS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

This fall... Saturday, October 16, 2010 - 13:10

Well, it's been a while since I gave you guys a blog update so I thought now would be a good time to get back to it. The last few weeks have been a bit less productive than we had planned. For that I want to tell you all that we are sorry. It's been one of those periods where nothing seems to happen as it should. But, all things pass, and I think we are about back to normal. The worst part is that we were not able to attend the two conventions we were planning for October. We were all looking forward to meeting more of you but that I suppose will be delayed.
The good news: We are confirmed for a one day show on November 13th in Iowa, in a suburb of Des Moines. There's more info about it in the sidebar towards the bottom of the page. Get there if you can! We would love to see a solid attendance.
Additionally, we are working on a number of things. First of all is our print endeavor. We are in the process of going back into the archive to clean up, re-edit, and reformat all of our comics thus far to prepare for the first O of A book! Now don't get too excited, it will be awhile yet before you see the results. One thing we are finding is that we have been taking a little too much advantage of the tremendous freedoms an electronic format provides. This means that our comics are not fitting well on the templates for a book because of some of the wild shapes and sizes we use to illustrate our story. It's taking us some time to find the answers but we're getting there. In the mean time, we are looking at doing a mini comic for print to give everyone a taste of what it will be like. This will most likely be a small collection of stories and strips from O of A kept exclusively in black and white and made available through our webstore and at conventions. Signed copies will be availble too.
Another thing to keep your eyes open for in the future? O of A animated shorts. That right, at this moment, we are slowly working towards expanding Objects of Amusement into animation. The comic will remain as it is and continue unaltered, but along with it you will eventually get to see short animated episodes based on the comic and the characters adventures. We are considering people for the right character voices and I am working on the music for the series. This will be a very slow process and may be next fall before the pilot comes out. We will definately keep you informed on the progress.

One last thing I should mention is our new update schedule. starting tomorrow, Monday 10-18-2010. We will be going to 3 updates a week. Posting as follows.

Monday - Broady's Poetry Corner
Wednesday - Regular storyline comic strip
Friday - Dex's Pick Up Lines

Occasionally if we are feeling saucy we might throw one up on Sunday too. Be sure to keep an eye on us and watch Facebook and Twitter for the latest O of A news as it happens!

I know there's more than this to tell you but I may have to save it for another blog. So I will for now bid you farewell. and untill we meet again...

Stay Amused,
Donovan K.

Today and Tomorrow Saturday, August 14, 2010 - 00:19

I should have narrowed down the things I wanted to tell you about before I began to type, but alas, I am sorting it out as we go. We are very rapidly approaching Chicago Comicon time and there is much left to do. Fortunately for me, I have this weekend off to prepare. By Monday we should be in prime shape. I can't wait to see some of you there! Some of the mail we are getting is very exciting. You see, We can look at our stat counters and know we have an audience, but there is nothing better than getting to meet you and talk to you face to face.

As for more immediate matters? Well, today's comic is (as you've already noticed) different that what you are used to seeing. First and foremost it is a completely new section to the website. Much like Dex has his very popular pick up lines, Broady will now pop in once in a while to share his sweet, sweet poetry. Don't be afraid to google some of his more unusual words. We won't tell anyone. It turns out that Broady (although technically slow) is quite the idiot savant and sometimes displays an impressive vocabulary. The best part is that he's capable of saying anything and he's got some interesting things he would like to recite for you down the road.

The other thing different about today's comic is the color job. To answer your first question, YES the comic is still being colored by Don. But Broady has a special place in his heart and so he put some extra time into this one. I was very impressed when I saw how it turned out. This level of shadowing is something we would like to include in all of our comics and so you can count on seeing some of our updates looking like this in the future. Unfortunately he doesn't have the time to do them all this way so it will only be occasional, but rest assured that you will see more of it.

I could ramble on for the rest of the night but I have to get some rest if I'm going to make pogress on this weekend's convention prep. If any of you have any questions feel free to get ahold of me through our contact form, or through our twitter or facebook accounts. I welcome all communication from our readers.

6 more days to Chicago Comicon...

Stay Amused,
Donovan K.

A Good Day Wednesday, August 4, 2010 - 01:53

I have to admit. Many days begin the same as this one did and slip on past without so much as a noticeable moment at any point. This one, however, was a special one. I'm proud to say that our entire team was hovering in a creative high today. And a highly productive one at that. As of this moment we have a current version of our Con checklist, a brand new business card design (with 1000 of them in the works), a very large order of shirts enroute to the shop for printing, and the next 4 comics inked and ready to color and script.
It's safe to say, I'm pretty excited right now. There's great energy around the place today.

What to expect in Chicago...
Just so you all know, Kyle will be making himself available at the Chicago comicon for quick sketches and charactizations for fans and it looks like Don might be doing some of the same when available.
Other things to look forward to at the booth this year: The official O of A contest, (and its one of the easiest contests to enter ever), Great O of A tshirts (Including 1 totally new design making its debut at the con), and my favorite thing of all so far... (if we get it done)... I'm planning to have short run of the first ever print version of an O of A mini book. We haven't decided yet what will be in it but I might just make you all wait untill the convention to find out.

Let me know if you guys (and girls) have any questions or if you would like to see somthing at our booth that we haven't mentioned already. Also, by all means, if you plan to stop by and see us out there let us know! We wold love to hear from you!

We will probably be posting the next comic tomorrow night so until then...

Stay Amused,
Donovan K.
